I am John F. Rhodes.

I HAVE indeed lived in interesting times, I graduated from East Texas State University (now Texas A&M University - Commerce) in 1972. I came to the Dallas Morning News as an intern in May 1973. I was offered a job and stayed, instead of continuing on to graduate school. I stayed until I was RIF’d with many thousands of other journalists from the failing newspaper industry in September 2011.

Throughout my career, I worked nights and most often photographed high school and college sports, and many of the area’s professional sports teams, including the Texas Rangers, the Dallas Mavericks, the Dallas Stars and the Dallas Cowboys.

I also produced photos of spot news events, features and the and shots of the arts, including local theater, dance and music events.

I am married (39+ years now), have two grown daughters (both are married) and two grandsons.

This website contains  a small collection of some of my favorite and most notable photographs taken over my 38-year-long photo-journalism career at the Dallas Morning News.
